My name is Lisa Turner, and I will be the school counselor for Kindergarten, 3rd, & 5th grades this year. This is my eleventh year as a school counselor, and my eleventh year at Lewis! I received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University in 2003. After working in the CIS field for 5 years, I decided to change my career and become a school counselor. Changing my career was one of the best decisions I have ever made because I absolutely love being a school counselor! I graduated from the University of West Georgia in 2010 with a Master’s degree in School Counseling and I received my Education Specialist degree from the University of West Georgia in July 2015.
I worked as a community counselor for three years, where I provided mental health services to children, adolescents, and families in their homes and schools. I had the privilege of working with students in the Cobb County School District during the 2012-2013 school year. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and am currently working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist.
I love spending time with my friends and family when I am not at school. I also enjoy doing yoga, aerial arts, seeing live music, and traveling during my free time.
I am very excited to work with you and your child(ren)! Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a fun and successful year!
